Buchanan, John
Ceramics


John Buchanan served his apprenticeship at Anchor Pottery, St Ives in 1961 and founded the Anchor Pottery in Hayle in 1966. He opened the St Ives Craft Centre at Halsetown in 1977, incorporating the School of Pottery. John was a founder member of the Cornwall Crafts Association, he joined the Guild of Master Craftsmen in 1978, is a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, West Country Potters' Association and the St Ives Society of Artists.

John's work is a culmination of ideas and techniques spanning 40 years. He specialises in clear simple bands of colour representing sea and sand. Exhibits in London, Belgium and Munchen.
