ABOUT ME: Over a 30 year period my woodturning has evolved from a mixture of small gift items, domestic wood-ware, mainly salad bowls and platters, and architectural work. Repetition here is the key that has honed hand/eye co-ordination, and developed techniques enabling the skills necessary to progress to individual, one of a kind pieces, that are sought after by collectors and galleries.
Strong uncluttered forms along with an awareness and respect for the integrity of the timber is paramount. However, I feel that the less exciting timbers, using methods and ideas that I have tried over many years, can sometimes be enhanced by the sympathetic use of colour, texturing and carving.
WOODTURNING COURSES
I have taught many people to "Turn" over the years, ... male/female ... 15 / 75 years old, mainly on a ad hoc basis, usually trying to slot them in around my production work. However, in an effort to pass on, (before I pass on), some of my skills, I am now much more organised and am able to offer a limited number of courses, mainly aimed at Beginner/Improvers, but can be structured to individual requirements at Intermediate/Advanced level if required.
