SELECTED MAKER

Lyle, Janet
Printmaking

Etching for me reflects a rawness that I value in the landscapes I am drawn to. The harsh corrosion of acid on metal imitates the erosion over time of landmass. The struggle between the concept of an image and the reality of the bite is always a challenge, which sometimes results in the unexpected.

My collagraphs and monoprints are formed from the softer vegetative layers covering the bed rock; local distinctiveness. Using card plates and dried plant forms, earth pigments and linseed oil, I try to respond to the shapes, colours and textures of the habitat surrounding me.
