Gilder, Theresa
Sculpture
Theresa was for three years a textile designer in Manchester before moving to Cornwall. Here she soon built up a market for her ceramic figures and portraits. Raising a family and teaching at the Penzance School of Art made demands on her time but since branching into stone carving 35 years ago her reputation and recognisable style have become international.
The strong, often interlocking, figures are intended to be evocative and tactile thereby inviting the viewer to participate in the emotive feelings they produce.
