As a child, watching fish being pulled up from the depths, I always felt that I was catching a glimpse of a different, magical world - one which was always just out of reach. I was continually enthralled by the iridescence of the colour - something that I have come to feel that I can best capture on silk, a material whose fluidity, luminosity, purity, and strength, permits me to layer pigments and dyes in an attempt to capture the magic of the subject.
Colour, shape, movement, and pattern in nature are a perpetual obsession in all of the strands of my work, and I hope that the results evoke something of the glimpse into the hidden worlds that fascinate me'.
