Why I make as I do -
All my life I have lived close to nature, needing water also; rivers, the sea and rain.
A strong influence on my work was the sculptor Denis Mitchell, a tutor at Redruth School of Art who taught me how to ‘see’.
I am thus drawn to natural forms. Textile patterns and texture are a strong inspiration and have been used to “silkscreen” patterns onto clay and porcelain with slip and stain to produce delicate forms.
I try to capture my love of the shapes and colours in flowers and gardens by digitally printing on to silk and creating decals for glass panels.
I like to mix medias, favouring stoneware. Porcelain, fabric and glass to create wall pieces, soft glass lights, ceramic tiles, glass panels and sculptures.
My interests are wide and ongoing.
