My work is simple, individual and hand made. My present range of fine porcelain objects have a strong oriental influence with origins from very traditional Japanese colours and styling. However, they present finally with a deliberate contemporary twist. Using porcelain clay that I very finely slab roll. I texture, scribe and mark it with found objects to initiate composition and design before forming. I combine the use of a classic incised cobalt oxide wash, with contemporary low firing matt and shiny glazes in multi-firings to create a stunning contrast against the white surfaces. In addition, I use mixed media, copper wire and ribbon to lend further interest and diversity.
