I have been a professional potter for over thirty years and my pots have continually evolved over this time. I currently work in stoneware clay firing to 1320c. My glazes are made up using locally sourced materials i.e. wood ashes, stone dusts etc. these are all fired in gas fuelled kilns. I am at present working with a wood fired Anagama kiln that offers different qualities in surface decoration, the pots are subjected to a minimum of 24 hrs. of firing and emerge scorched and covered with ash, this is deposited on the the pots during the firing.
I supply galleries nationwide and my work is in many collections both at home and overseas.
The images on this page indicate various glazes i.e. recycled roofing thatch, wheat straw, a glaze made up using Japanese Knotweed Ash.
My Anagama kiln is also shown, it has a capacity of some 3cu. mtrs. and is fired using wood [4 tons] from renewable sources.
