SELECTED MAKER

Allen, Carole
Jewellery / Other Media

My career in jewellery design started out as a hobby, when I learnt the basics though adult education classes. I soon realised I had a talent for this medium and spent several years teaching myself and attending masterclasses to learn the more advanced techniques of enamelling.

I launched my jewellery company relatively recently and in a very short space of time my work has become collectible and my range has increased. Particularly popular has been my Bleujenn (Cornish for flowers) range where I use enamels to enhance these tiny silver blossoms. I also like to use techniques such as forging, fusing and reticulating with touches of gold to add contrast.

My tiaras and wedding jewellery are made using traditional methods on silver and gold.

This year I have been exploring using enamels on copper panels. These colourful pieces are mounted on white wooden frames. Although not yet in the galleries, a small selection can be seen on my website www.caroleallenjewellery.co.uk.

My work is sold in many galleries around the country, and has been featured in several publications including Eve magazine, Cornwall Today, Inside Cornwall and Cornish World.
